Jordan's training log.

Hi. My name is Jordan Linteris. I recently purchased The reactive training manual and started my training today. I just started training today again. I was off for a while due to work, and family time. My goal for now is to just go through a few meso-cycles without worrying about fatigue drops and stuff. I want to get a good grasp of the RPE'S and the training, and from there i will impliment all of the features this program has too offer. Be prepared Mike, I will probably have a load of questions for you. Anyways, today was a very weak day one of the volume block.

Squat +200B Beltless. 5-6x4@8-9
275x4@8
285x4@8
295x4@8
305x4@8
315x4@8

Deadlift on 45 pound plate -Beltess 5-6x4@8-9
405x4@8
415x4@8
425x4@8
435x4@8
445x4@8

Front squats-Beltless 4-5x5-8@8-9
225x8@8
225x6@8
250x5@9

Abs

Everything obviously felt heavy today from the lack of training, and I think i tore my muscles pretty good. Should be a sore day tommorow. Feels awesome to be back on track though and actually have a solid gameplan to follow.

Day 2 of 12 -Volume Block

Bench press 6x3@8-9 RPE

315x3@8
320x3@8
325x3@8
330x3@9
335x3@9.5
315x3@8

Medium grip press +65 chains 5x5@8-9 RPE

225x5@8
235x5@9
225x5@8,8,8

Seated strict dumbbell shoulder press 4-5 x 5-8@8-9RPE

100x8@9
100x6@9
100x5@8
100x5@9

Lats.
Bodyweight pullups
Bodyweight x 10,10,10

Wow. I guess this workout was decent, but again since I am fresh at hitting the weights again, this volume really kicked my ass. My quads and back are dead from a few days ago, and I assume that my chest and delts will be equally sore tommorow. It is very obvious that I am not good, nor used to handle this volume. I really look forward to see what happens after this volume cycle. After doing bench, medium grip chain press, although light owned me. The lockout was killer, even though it was less than 300 at lockout. Shoulders went very well. Reps were deep, controlled and very strict. 110's should be good to go for next workout.

Yes, that's a lot of volume. Keep in mind that you might need to chop it down a little bit since you're first coming back.

Day 3 of 12 of volume block
DSD

Deadlift with belt 6x2@8RPE

500X2@7
520X2@8
540X2@8
560x2@9 Supposed to be an 8
540x2@9 Obvious fatigue stop-Done

Squats to safety bars-2S pause 6x2@8
315x2@7
345x2@8
365x2@8
385x2@8
405x2@8.5
385x2@8

RDL 5X5@8-9

405X5@8,9,8,9.

Incline situps
3 x 15,13,15

Today went pretty well for my first belted deadlift day in a looooong time. Didnt want to run my RPE to 9 but it was accidental, so it will be something for me to learn about in the future. Lacking pop off the bottom of deadlift.

Squats were an awesome excercise because pausing the reps on the rack and starting from scratch made me realize how weak my squats actually are with no stretch reflex. Out of the hole is a huge weakness for me. I was going to use chain but my 1/4" link went missing from the gym!

RDLS' were ok. Volume of the workout had its toll on the end of my workout. Still happy to do 405 strict and somewhat easy.

Day 4 of 12 of Volume block

Reverse band bench press 5x5@8-9RPE

365X5@8
275X5@8
385X5@8.5
395X5@8.5
405X5@9

Flat back floor press 5x5@8-9RPE

275X5@7
295X5@9.5 -Definate form issues
275x3x5@8,8.5,8.5

2board height rack lockouts 4x5
315x4@10... started weight in front of face basically...
295x3x5@9,8,8

Weighted pull ups
45 pounds x 2 sets of 5 @8
BW x 10@7

Today was my first time doing reverse band bench. Very wierd feeling excercise but It seemed to kick the crap out of my triceps so it definately like it. Not sure what kind of help the blue bands offer when the bar is at my chest.?

Flat back floor press were very difficult. Going to 295 wouldnt have been an issue if i waited until a later set, but my form sucked on that set so in turn the set was a higher RPE than it could have been.

2 board height lockouts were another learning experience. Placement at the start of the lift was everything, and the later sets showed. The more sets i did, the easier reps got.

Day 5 of volume Block

Beltless Squats w/ Strong bands 5x5@9

315x5@8
325x5@8.5
335x5@9
315x5@9 Fatigue stop

Beltless deadlifts on 45 pound plate
405x5@6-7
455x5@8
465x5@8.5
475x5@9
455x5@9

Beltess front squats
225x5@8
235x5@8
245x5@8.5
255x5@8.5

Everything seems to be moving nicely. Last week I finished with 315x4@8.5 on  strongband squats, today i was at 325x5@8.5. Deficit deads went up to 475x5, from 445x4, and front squats made an equally nice jump. Not too much to complain about. Pr's across the board today.

Day 6 of 12 of volume block

Raw press 6x2@8-9
315x2@8
335x2@8
345x2@8.5
355x2@9.5 Misgroove on 2nd rep. Even perfect, a 9 would have been tough.
335x2x2@8.5,8

Medium grip press w/68# chains
245x2@7
265x2@8
275x2@9
265x2x2@8.5,8.5

Dumbbell seated shoulder press.
100's x 5@7
110's x 4@10
100's x 2 x 5@8,8.5

WG chin's
45 pounds plate x 5,5,5@8

Another good day. Gained weight and reps on my bench set, medium grip with chains and shoulders. I will wait for a mesocycle or two before i start adding what the exact PR for the excercise will be. I know since i am just getting back into it I am going to be flooded with gains from re-starting up. Gotta eat a lot and get some sleep. Just got off of nightshifts and I have deads tommorow with a sooooore body. I am enjoying the high volume. This is totally foreign to me. I used to train in one giant intensity block.

Looking good Jordan, are you planning on competing in the CPU or elsewhere?

Thanks Jonathon. My long term goals are definately aimed towards competing in the CPU again. When?... not too sure. Got a long road ahead of me to get back to comp level. Pretty pumped on this RTS **** though. Seems to make a lot of sense.

Day 7 of 12 of volume block.

Deadlift with belt: 6x3@8-9 -All reps paused
500x3@8
535x3@8
555x3@8.5
565x3@9
500x2x3@8,8

Below parallel paused rack squats: 6x3@8-9
315x3@7
365x3@8
385x3@9
365x2x5@8,8.5

Romanian deadlift: 4-5@8-9
405x5@8
435x5@8.5
445x5@9 40# pr
405x5@9

Abs-Side crunches
60#'s x 10,10,10

Today went pretty well. Deadlifts went from 560x2@9, to 565x3@9 so some definate movement there. Feels a little wierd since i am facing away from the mirror rather than setting up with it. I think deadlifting in the mirror is a very bad habit, especially come comp time.

Paused squats went pretty good. Got 405x2@9 last time, but my 385x3@9 was better since i lowerd the squat by 2.5". That made a huge diff and put the pause below parallel.

Romanian deads went awesome. My back was wrecked and i jumped 40 pounds from last week. I use double overhand grip with straps on these since my hands are sore from pulling. Overall a good day. Pr's across the board again.

You will get used to it in a few sessions. You're talking about the blue heavy bands? Of course amount of tension depends on a couple factors..

-are they choked once or twice or at all?
-what pin height are the bands hanging from?

The easiest way to tell would be to load the bar with whatever weight it takes to touch your chest (just barely, so its floating), usually band tension is a in the low 100's when using purple/blue bands. I like to set it up so theres only about 5lbs of help at lockout.

Day 8 of 12 of volume block
Some guy was doing 20 doubles in the squat rack with 155 as speed work when he can squat 405. Perhaps this might be a good idea, but too me it is ridiculous and took away from my reverse band training. Anyways, had to make do.

Bench press: +68c 6x2@8-9
275x2@8
285x2@8.5
295x2@8.5
305x2@8.5
315x2@9
315x2@9.5 -Was positive I could have got a 9.

Flat back floor press: 6x2@8-9
275x2@7
295x2@8
315x2@8.5
325x2@8.5
335x2@9
315x2@9

3 board height rack lockouts
315x5@8 pr. Got 315x4 last week @10
345x5@8.5
365x5@9 50+ pound pr. Still weak though.
315x8@9 5 rep pr.

Wide grip pullups-All paused on bottom of hang
Bodyweight x 12@9
Bodyweight x 10@9

Dont really have much time for a write-up but today went pretty good. Got pr's again on everything so if this keeps going like this then I should be getting reasonably strong in a few months/years.......decades.

C-mon Mike. It is very important to do speed doubles for 1hr:40m with like 5 minutes rest between 155 pound doubles. I woke up today and was still angry. Guess this program has me more motivated that I thought to stay on track. Next time I might just have to bend a texas powerbar over his head.
