How do you decide which way to face with the car DL?

I've done it once in a comp, and faced away from the car, like everybody else was doing.

Using two bars stuck against the wall tonight, I found that facing forward had some advantages.  I was better able to take advantage of the "fixed" nature of the weight, and fall forward into it, driving harder with my quads.

Any ideas?

I think you'd be better off facing away and falling back into it. Also, then if its a straight bar you'd have a better chance at being able to ramp it up your thighs or hitch...Mariusz is the master of this.

bob, here is the deal. CarDL requires brute strength and the perfect set up.
Brute strength should be trained with farmers deadlifts, elevated trap bar deadlifts anything side handle.
heres the perfect setup
make sure your shins and forearms are lined up next to each other this puts you in the proper pulling posistion when you start the pull drive with your hips hard keep your chest high and push with your hips, this is not a back movement its all about legs and hips
watch my car deadlift and my trap bar deadlift you will see what i mean

Thanks Dane.

I see what you mean to some degree on your trap bar DL vids.

Can you point me to your car DL vid?  I couldn't find it on YouTube.
