So here lies the problem. I have a 48 katana ss that I cant touch in and its been prob 10 sessions so far. Although spread apart some but still last week I did 435 to 1 board or less.
Now I have 1 more session planned before my meet next saturday in montreal.
Would it be a good idea to open the back of the bench shirt up? would that make it easier to touch IE putting it on and seating it and easier for adjusting. I am competing in the CPO so it doesnt matter at all what I do. I compete against myself because I go 1 ply while everybody there is super multi ****load of equipment ply. That being said I still want to do good for me.
So any tips on dialing this in before the meet? Should I open the back up? do I need to get something to tie the back up anyways IE velcro or whatnot.
My shirt is pretty dam tight. It takes baby powder and loads of man power to get this sucker on and seating it is a bitch.
In my opinion opening the back will not make it easier to touch. Have you tried letting the collar ride high and not wearing a belt? A super tight 1-ply katana ss bench shirt is as jacked as any shirt there is, single ply or otherwise.
I dont have the luxury of that right now. I have a fury but I can only put up 380-395 if I am lucky with it.
I could do my opener with it then switch over but really locking out low 400's is very easy its just touching thats the prob.
My plan is to wet the shirt down wed set the pins so I dont crush myslef and gun the weight down and hope it touches. Atleast if I can do it ones I can have some confidence going in
I second what spolier said: a controlled, fast descent. Arch hard into the bar. It took me many, many sessions to touch in my new Katanna. Overloading(lowering more weight than I could press) helped a lot. Have good spotters!
Ya tried all of that today and still no go. Its been over 10 sessions with this shirt and still nothing. I touched sorta with 445 and 435 but my technique was so far off that I was in no possition to press it back up.
Looks like its gonna be my fury this time around which will make my bench even worst prob under 400 then give my katana 1 try at 435ish.
Atleast I know my other 2 lifts are getting better I hope to add about 50+lbs to my squat and 30-50 on my dead since jan but well see those are just expectations for now until I do it.
