Tuesday - Bench / Squat

Equipped Bench Press - 75-85% - 5 sets
Stock Size 50
475 x3 @7
530 x3 @8
565 x4 @9 HUGE 35lb PR!!!
565 x3 @9.5
545 x3 @9

Raw Squat w/90lbs chain
315 x5
405 x3x4 @8.5

This was my best bench session to date.  I am thinking that my bench is around 630 now.  That is a huge improvement since the last time I've put a shirt on.  All that raw lockout work with bands has really improved my bench press.  Big thanks to Mike for helping me move pins and j-hooks, and spotting/loading/handing off.

On another note, I don't think that I've lost a whole lot of weight, but I do feel a little leaner.  Emphasis on the 'little'.

I used a wider stance on the squat tonight and liked it again.  It took a couple sets to get the right depth, but once I found it, I was good.  The knees really didn't ache that much, but my back felt a little beat up from the shirt benching.  I wanted to get into the suit tonight, but I feel a little spent.  All in all, I am just gald that I was able to get some kind of squat volume in tonight.

THANKS DAN!!!

Wednesday - BENCH / BENCH / LEGS

Paused Close Grip Bench Press
no handoff
350 x3 @7.5
390 x2 @8
420 x3 @9 ...20lb PR
430 x2 @9.5
405 x3 @9
385 x4 @9

Close Grip Bench Press
315 x7

Low Pin Close Grip Bench Press
225 x7 @6
315 x7 @8
365 x6 @9

LEG PRESS

Nice PR tonight!  Really surprised myself without the handoff.  420 x3 @9 is definitely a strong PR for me.  Last week the paused benches felt a little ****ty.

Big run tomorrow so I didn't push the legs too hard!

Your equipped and unequipped benches just keep going up. As I said before I am jealous. Nice work and a 600lb bench will be yours soon.

Thanks a lot Perry!

Friday - Bench / Shoulders
no handoffs today...

Wide Grip Low Pin Pause Bench Press - at chest level
375 x2 @7
410 x2 @8
440 x2 @9.5
405 x4 @9
405 x5 @10

DB Military Press
65s x10 @7
70s x10 @7

Sitting Military Press
155 x10 @8

Overall...not really bad session tonight. Wanted to hit some higher stress volume. I probably shouldn't have done the 440, I should have tried 430 x3. Everything did feel really good despite not haveing any handoffs. Its good to know that I don't need a strong handoff to train heavy.

Tuesday - Bench / Squat

Equipped Bench Press 85 - 95% - 5 sets
525 x1 @7
550 x1 @7.5
575 x1 @8.5
600 x1 @10 ...PR, but felt like 10-15lbs left in there.
575 x2 @10

Raw Squat w/belt 85 - 95% - 5 sets
455 x1 @8
495 x1 @8
525 x1 @9-9.5
495 x1 @9.5
475 x2 @9

Overall, this was a really nice session. I finally broke the 600lbs mark and am excited to go beyond. I really just hope that I have a lot of things dialed in for Bench Nationals.

Also...after speaking with Mike T. about Men's Nationals and full meet powerlifting, I think that I would have had a really good chance at a 1-2 place finish at nationals ONLY if my training had been spot on and I had spent consistent time in gear. In no way am I saying that I would have won, but the potential to do very well is there.

Tomorrow, if there is time, I may put the deadlift suit on and lift something heavy.

Thanks a lot guys!!!

I've been on TDY and my laptop broke so I couldn't even log my workouts there. I also just spent 8 days in mexico and hadn't trained in 12 days. Monday was my first day back on a regular schedule. I am excited.

135 x6 @7
185 x6 @8
235 x8 @10

Tuesday - Bench / Deadlift / Deadlift
Close Grip Bench Press 70-80%
315 x4 @8
355 x4 @8.5
380 x5 @10
360 x4 @9

Suit Deadlift - no belt 70-80%
405 x4 @7
500 x5 @8
475 x5 @8

Good Morning 65-75%
225 x6 @7

Not a bad first two days back. I have a ways to go, but after not training for 12 days, I didn't do bad at all.

Thursday - Bench / Squat / Shoulders

Wide Grip Chest Level Pin Press - 70-80% 3-4 sets 10-14 NL
320 x4 @8
350 x4 @8
380 x5 @9...possibly an 8.5

Loose Suit Squat Straps Down - 70-80% 3-4 sets 10-14 NL
435 x4 @7
470 x4 @8
500 x5 @8

DB Military Press
50s x8 @7
60s x8 @7
70s x8 @8

This session only took 75 minutes. I trained on base today and it worked out well except that I couldn't get the straps up by myself. The bench press work went a little better than expected. Still didn't hit any PRs in the exercise, but I feel them coming on.

The suit squats with the straps down were a little surprising. I think that I undershot my estimated 1RM by around 25lbs. I think that right now I'd be good for mid-high 6's with this loose ass suit without knee wraps. It is a stock 48 centurion and I compete with a stock 46. The pop was alright even though I don't feel that I get much out of this suit at the moment with the straps down, but it should be a good initiation into squatting in gear again.

It felt good to get to come home early today.

Friday - Bench / Deadlift / Squat

Close Grip Reverse Band Press - 10-14 lifts
440 x3 @7
490 x3 @8
525 x5 @8.5 ...PR
525 x3 @8
510 x3 @8

Deadlift off 4 inch block - 10-14 lifts
435 x2 @8...at least it felt like an 8
465 x2 @8
495 x2 @8.5
405 x4 @8

Close Stance Squats
225 x6 @7
275 x6 @7
325 x6 @8

Good session tonigh especially for the benching. I am hoping that the close grip reverse band presses will take my tricep/lockout strength through the roof. Don't have much time, but it was a decent session.

Shaun looked really good in the shirt tonight hitting a solid 525 x3...
Scott is getting ready for the raw nationals...
