On a good note: I do not have a slipped disc, just pinched nerves. I talked about it with my doctor for a bit and he wanted me to play around with the bar positioning on my back as well as my hand placement.
Nice to hear there are doctors who know what they're talking about with regard to sport injuries. Best of luck on your road to recovery.
Yeah no kidding. Dr. Lytle has been a very large part of the successes that I've had. He's taken care of all my muscle pangs and problems.
Thanks a lot Mike! It still hasn't hit me yet that I am a World Team Member. It'll be fun to train for. I have some pretty sweet ideas that I am trying out before the American open. Still not sure if I'll do the full meet. That solely depends on my back. Good news is that I haven't had any pain for a while. I'd really like a shot at the 3 lift world record.
Seemed like a really easy workout tonight. I was in and out very quickly. The 3 count pause bench presses went better than expected. I had a 10lb PR from last week. I probably could have done 375x4@8, but I'll do something a little stronger than that next week. Overall, its amazing that I am still seeing some gains even though I am not on any supplements. Not even a multivite.
I don't know if its all that comfortable...LOL I've been off supplements for so long that I've deflated a little bit, but strength will pile on here after another week once I start back up again. Shirts are feeling loose, but what is good is that I feel that I've maintained my strength from when I was on supplements.
I may not get to post for some time. Beth and I are moving into our new house over the weekend, are going on vacation Nov 8-16, and won't have internet until Nov 18-19th. If I have the patience, I'll post the workouts from my blackberry.
ust got my internet back. Beth and I moved into our new house on the 31st of October, went on vacation, and are back.
Some change in plans.
I have a lot of house crap to take care of over the next few weeks and will be out of town a couple of them. So, the American Open isn't going to happen. I'll just do a mock contest in the gym in a few weeks and see what happens. Then I'll be focusing exclusively on the IPF Bench Worlds...still can't believe it.
I did get to train some on my vacation, but nothing great. I may have gotten some PRs, but very small ones, but at least its something.
Glad to have you back. I was beginning to wonder about you! Yeah, I'd say it's time you start training for worlds! How long have you got again?
Thanks Mike. I have until late May 2009. Plenty of time to put something great together. I have some ideas I'll probably send to you in the near future.
Close Grip Bench Press + Doubled Purple Bands 295 x2 @8 325 x3 @9...30lb PR (since the last time doing them since MAY '08) 345 x2 @10...SAME!!! 325 x3 @10
Safety Squat Bar Squats - giving them a try 165 x5 255 x5 345 x5 255 x5 Gave these a try and they felt pretty good. ZERO Pain in the back from them. Now if only I could acquire one for my home!
Overall this was a fantastic benching session. I am surprised that the Close Grips went so well. I felt really good with them and my lockout seems to be improving. I think its the supplements and that I am a couple lbs over normal training weight. But, a PR is a PR and that was a big one!
I have a pretty good plan for getting back into lower body training again. More importantly, I need to have a great diet plan for worlds. I need to clean it up a bit, get leaner. I need to get my training weight around 248. For the most part its been around 252-254. Not too bad, but definitely not great. It will make making weight overseas a lot easier. Gotta plan ahead!
Close Grip Bench Press + double monster minis 205 x4 @7 250 x4 @7 305 x5 @8.5 335 x4 @9.5, but probably @9, it just felt heavy
Not a bad training session. The close grips felt pretty dang good, the wides though, not so much.
Tuesday - Bench / Squat / Extra
Paused Close Grip Bench Press 365 x2 @7 395 x1 @8 430 x1 @8 460 x1 @10, with about 15lbs left in the tank 445 x1 @10, a little slower
Raw Squat - no belt 245 x5 @7 335 x5 @7 425 x7 @7.5-8
WOW, what a strong session. I can't believe that my close grip strength is that high. I think that I've been holding a bit back anyway.
Squats have been going very well as of late. it felt good to finally train with good equipment for once. Too many training sessions outside the BWLC. Right now my beltless squat max is sitting around 550. Hopefully will push that to 570 next week. I think its in me.
I am really looking forward to Thursday now. I'll try a double or triple touch and go with a wide grip. We'll see!!!
