stopped here. ran out of gas on both exercises. The floor press was suppose to go up to 215, but could only hit 205 for a double. squats were even worse. no energy whatsoever. was not happy with the floor presses at all, but got everything out of them I could today. I hope this is not the kind of week I am going to have on every workout. :(
Don't sweat it man. It happens sometimes. The important thing now is to get your head right for the next workout. Keep yourself psychologically on a positive mental key. Belief affects more than most people think.
was much more pleased with this workout. the 1 board work went real well. feel like my raw strength has come along well fairly quickly in a short time. may have to move the shirt work till friday. don't want to, but have a thanksgiving program that afternoon at my 3 yr old son's daycare, so may not have time to get it in. will just have to see.
stopped there. thought the shirt work went great. I believe the last heavy set was a rep pr with that shirt. cannot remember, but if not, was still a good workout. Got one more heavy week before meet week. Like I said after Monday, I was hoping the other training sessions would go great and they did.
The floor presses were good. I expected to try one more set on them, but had really no gas left. The squats were awful. the first couple of sets went ok, but got up to the third and just felt like crap. Shirt work tomorrow. looking for a 525x1@9 (95%). Will tape and see how it goes.
335x2@8 425x1@8 475x1@8 500x1@8 (touched and paused) 515x1@9.5 (not sure it locked out all the way) 495x1@9 (5% reduction)
SLDL did a few sets, but nothing worth posting about
So, moved my shirt day to today because of Thanksgiving. Thought it went well. 500 will be my opener, no doubt. Thought the 515 would have been better, but did not get a good handoff, but thats my fault for not just lifting it off myself. The kid that helped kind of jerked it out and it never really felt right. 515 should be my 2nd attempt and we will see on the third. BTW, the 515 was probably more of a 10 than a 9, but we'll go with a 9.5 on this day. I accually tried a second set on the 495, but I lost it about 1/2 way up, so did not count it. Raw day early Thurs. morning (like 5am early!!!!!! :) ) Have the videos loading now. here is the site:
ok, I have talked with Mike last week about this, but for everyone else I had to back out of my meet last Sat. Came down with a bad sinus infection the week of the meet, plus my wife came down with strep throat. Thought best to wait and try and get into full meet shape as well as better overall shape myself. Started my apr. 11 full meet prep this week.
FYI, decided to skip the upper body work this week. Rt. shoulder has been bothering me all week for some reason, so just doing legs this week. Got front squats today.
Ok, after taking about a full two weeks off to get myself well, decided to hit some test lifts to see where I am at right now and going into my training for my next meet in Apr.
Squat: went full gear and did a decent 320. Remember, am not a trained squater, so was happy with this right now.
Bench: could tell I have been sick and not training for the last few weeks. Only got 475 and was not easy.
DL: did 345 raw. all time best raw is 355, so was happy with this.
bodywt. was 215, so have dropped about 7 lbs. since the first week of dec. Am happy about this as I am trying to drop down to around 198 slowly, so will continue to work on that. Have vids that are loading right now. Can see them at:
got videos of the 345 bench, 225 deadlift, and one of the towel bench pad I am using (made that one for you Mike. Let me know what you think of it and if I need to use something else.)
I doubt the 10 pound jump was too big. I bet there was something else (inconsistent rest interval, misjudged RPE, etc.)
No worries, though.
As far as the towel, it looks fine. I really intended you to not sink the towel very much -- more of a touch and go. Sink it on the board work, though. It's fine to use that, but I just wouldn't sink it real far.
Was VERY sore. Felt good though. Had to cut this one short. My HS team has their first meet of the season tomorrow and had to get them packed are ready to go in the morning.
oly squat x4 8-9 135x4 (warmup) 185x4@8 205x4@8.5 225x4@8.5 235x4@9
RDL 3x8 w/135
My thoughts: thought DL went real good. could really feel it in my back by the sets at 9. as far as squats go, I just really SUX! Form is good, but I am just not strong at it. Hope that will correct itself as I go along. And by the time I got to RDL's, my back was wasted, so went for a lighter wt. Overall, a good workout IMO. Bench work tomorrow to get back on normal schedule.
