Loose gear.

I recently picked up my old titan gear and F6 bench shirt from a few years back. They only have one ****ty comp on them but are pretty loose. Curious if I should use the gear on equipped days of just stay raw until i get tighter fitting gear. I am 240 right now, and was 278 when I work this stuff previously. I put the deadlift and squat suit on and they offer some assistance. The reason I ask is because just like anything else I think that fine tuning equipped form is essential, just not too sure I using loose gear is going to benefit as much as training on raw lifting (in which I have been making awesome gains). Any assistance on this topic or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

im in the same boat as you, i competed at 100kg, in lose equipment, and now dieting to 90kg class, i weight currently 96kg, so bench shirt is lose on me and dont offer much, but i stil wear it on shirt day,

squat day is mainly raw, for now, until i can fit into the tight squat suit ive bought,

if youre improving raw Id be more inclined to carry on raw, but thats because I dont need to lift long in a suit before Im confident with equipped squat,  then buy a tight suit and you'll lift more for sure

If you intend to buy new (tight) equipment, I'd use the loose stuff in training. Combine it -- do some raw work and some equipped work because you don't want either to be neglected. If you don't intend to buy new stuff (i.e. have your old stuff altered or nothing at all), I'd say work mostly raw until the meet. It's less than ideal, but you don't want to get it even looser before the contest.

Yeah i do intend to buy new gear, just not until my weight gets stable. I havent put any weight on in the last three months but i am normally 10-20kg heavier so I plan on having a jump in wieght here at some time. I will use the gear I have now and alternate between that and the tight gear when I get it then. Thanks.

Since we are on the topic of gear.

I am starting to get really pissed off with the quality for my suits. I bought a centurion size 48 months back and it did me well for a while. It stretched like crazy really fast to the point of it taking me litterally 5 - 10 sec to pull it on, suit slippers or not. I still got ok carry over even then like 80-90lbs approx. Now I have lost about 13lbs so that lose suit is a no go at all.

So I bought a super centurion and got it this wed. I got a 46 this time. It took me 2.5 hours approx to put it on wed and it still wasnt seated. Obviously I was taking my time, i was watching tv and whatnot so I was in no hurry. Now today I put it on, it was tight and took me about 10min to get most of the way on then after a couple of squats it was pretty much seated. Now by the end of my squats, I was going still fairly light but still around 75-80% of close to my max which was 505 for sets of 2. I was only about 3-4 inches away from hitting depth and was at parrallel or close to it. This suit is much tighter than my 48 centurion ever was yet this apparent super centurion lets me go down pretty easily which was not the case with my centurion for atleast 1-2 weeks.

So basically what I am getting at is, has anybody used the super centurion yet? I am not finding it very super at all. I tried looking for the differences between my regular centurion and my super and basically I cant see many at all. I noticed that along the harnest near the hips that one of the 2 stitches looks to have more stitching but not much more and thats about it.

I fear that after my contest in jan this suit will become my training suit and I will have to buy another suit for my next contest. I think that is very stupid and very expensive that I would have to buy another suit for every contest to have the best numbers I possibly can.

Are other single ply suits different? At this point I would almost rather have a suit that lasts me longer and stays tighter if it can last 3 or more contests even if I lose 5-10lbs.

if your 48 was lose, and now you have lost 13 lbs, and only gone down 1 size, maybe suit is still lose, go for a 44 then, personally like suits really really tight,

That's the nature of the stiff material. It does stretch, but after it stretches, instead of buying a new one, get it altered. Send it off or find someone local who can do the alteration for you. Then the stretch will be gone and you should be fine.

When I get new suits, the first wear takes forever to get on. The second wear is much easier. But after you stretch it, get it altered, then you shouldn't have to worry about it for a while. It won't last forever, but it will certainly help it last longer.

Another tip for keeping your suits tight for meet time... only wear your "meet" suit once or twice. Use a training suit the rest of the time. Get your training suit altered as well -- that way you'll have 2 good suits to train in and you won't have to worry about one getting stretched out and being crappy for the meet.

The thing is, if you wear your meet suit only once or twice, you have to make sure you understand the suit when it comes to comp, as a lose training suit and supertight meet suit is totally different, and both work differently. My opinion.

Right, but if you're training suit is close (or if you have 2 training suits of varied fits) then you don't have to worry about it.

Trust me, I do this all the time.

I would not fit into a 44 even with 10 guys helping me. The thing is that my legs are pretty big  in comparison to my hips and its a fight to no end to get this new suit on.

I like that idea alot. Now when it comes to altering how would I go about this?

Do I send it back to TITAN or can I give it to a local place?

I would think it would be much cheaper to bring it to somebody local but I am affraid that it will not hold. Plus I dont know what to ask for in terms of thread they should use, stitching required. I know that knowbody here would have any idea what a squat suit is so without instruction I would be throwing money away.

Now If I were to send it to TITAN, I have heard that its not cheap, like 85$ or even more.

Does anybody have any ideas or feedback on what to do or who to send it to?

I live in Ottawa, canada so sending something to florida or whatnot then having them ship it back gets pretty expensive.

I have heard that Ginny makes alterations but am not sure.

thanks for the help guys

Send it to Ken Anderson. I've heard he does good work.

I took my titan suit to a alterations place.
They used a back stitch with upholstery thread.

It looks twice as strong as the original thread on the suit
