Mike, This is Jordan writing ya from work (I am union. Lots of time for this stuff). Anyways I am going to be wrapping up my third mesocycle here within the next two weeks and I was wondering if I should start incoorperating some more advanced things in my training. This seems like it should be a pretty obvious answer, but I have been gaining daily for the last four months using the most basic template imaginable. 3 weeks volume at a certain RPE, then intensity for three weeks. There are more advanced programs I can use, stresses can be added, fatigue stops can be added as well as loads of other useful tools. I am torn between adding this because In your book you talk about staying on a volume or intensity cycle if you are making amazing gains for an additional period of time before moving on. I am almost thinking I should stay with what I am doing until I plateau then add the other factors in. What is your take on this? I understand the additional things already like fatigue stops, just havent started.
I would go ahead and add it in slowly. If you're making great progress, then maybe think about waiting a couple more cycles, but if you have any inclination that things are slowing down, I'd go ahead and add the new stuff in. Better to get used to it now than wait until you're frustrated or something.
Ok I will wait then for a few more cycles. Seems like I am gaining 20-30 pounds on my 1rm every cycle on squats and deads. I wanna keep this momentum going. Basic template it is. Thanks.
