Thursday 5-28-09 6:00-7:15 w/ Dad and Judy 180.5lbs The Pound
Deadlift w/ Belt Warmups Cyclic 520x3 @8 570x3 @8 610x3 @9 635x2 @9+ (I really think I could have gotten a 3rd, however wearing my Rehbands-which I don't wear competing while competing in deads-and my baggy shorts caused a lot of resistance on the second) I was able to pull through, but didn't go for the 3rd. 11NL
RDL's 250x7 340x4 340x4 390x4 390x4 23NL
3 Count Pause Bench Warmups Cyclic 295x3 @8 325x3 @9 345x2 @9 295x3 @8 11NL Sort of testing the waters here. Shoulder still hurts, but wanted to make sure I wasn't going backwards. All's good.
I skipped the 3 Board Press because I will be benching again on Saturday doing Rack Lockouts.
I felt like I had a good workout tonight. We'll see how recovered I am for Saturday's 7:15am squats. Then, it's volleyball and a couple soccer games. Big game for the Leprechaun's on Saturday!
Saturday 5-30-09 7:15-8:45am 180.5lbs w/ Dad and Judy The Pound
I don't know why this happens, but I felt terrible warming up. It was early, I was sore from Thursday night and I was tight. I quickly went through the warmups and I felt absolutely great during the workout. I wish I could have put it in a bottle and used it on June 27.
For my working sets on belted squats I've been really pushing it trying to raise my projected 1RM. I have been going heavy doing 510s 20s and 530. Today, I actually used my projected 1RM and followed the program to the letter and did not try to go crazy. I used 550 as the number (doesn't mean I can actually do that in a competition, but I'd certainly like to), so I was to do 80-90% of 550 which is 440-495. I cheated and went to 500.
Warmups Cyclic 440x3 @8 460x3 @8 480x3 @8+ (felt very strong, good explosion) 500x3 @9 (worked through these not as explosive as 480, but not a problem) 12NL
RDL's I just did RDL's on Thursday night and after the squats I was tight so I just did these to get a nice stretch and a little work. 250x5 250x5 250x5 250x5 250x5 25NL
Rack Lockouts mid range Warmups Cyclic 320x3 @8 360x3 @8 410x3 @9 450x3 @9+ (on these I could not get the weight even started because of the leverage I was at, but dad helped just get it going and I locked them all out)
Overall great workout. I hope it all comes together next month. Oh and by the way...the Leprechaun's dominated!
Warning Warning Warning!!!! Cute/Tough Dog Alert!! Remember...this is my "facebook" and "myspace" Yesterday we "rescued" a 1 year old French Bulldog/Boston Terrier Mix dog. He looks like a "Mini Bulldog". There was a breeder that gave up her dogs and they needed to be adopted. He's the baddest ass toughest looking 15lb dog ever. We named him Elbie as in "lb" as in "pound" because my gym is The Pound and the logo is a bulldog w/ weights in his mouth. Anyway...he's cool and the girls can't get enough of him.
Monday 6-1-09 6:00-7:25 w/ Dad and Judy 177lbs The Pound
I went and saw Amy the PT on Sunday and guess what??? She said simply..."YOU NEED TO STRETCH YOUR CHEST AND SHOULDERS!!!" She said I would be the poster boy for poor upper body flexibility, so I got that going for me...which is nice. Anyway my forearms are ridiculously tight and need stretching too. She gave me a 20minute "massage" (torture) on just my forearm. She gave me some exercises and we scheduled another beating on Saturday. Actually, I felt a bit looser today from all of the shoulder stretching I did today, but my forearm is mush.
Wednesday 6-3-09 8:00-9:30 w/ Dad and Judy 180.5lbs The Pound
Deadlifts w/ Belt Warmups Cyclic 510x4 @8 530x4 @8 565x3 @8+ 580x3 @9 14NL I was looking forward to breezing thru the deads and I forgot that 500+ is still heavy regardless of the % of 1RM. Always need to respect the weight, I was overlooking this fight and wasn't as mentally prepared as I should have been.
Bench w/ Pinky on Ring Warmups Cyclic 295x4 @8 315x4 @8+ 330x3 @9 350x2 @9 13NL
Front Squats (moreless stretching it out) 135x4 135x4 185x4 205x4 NL16
Doing a skills evaluation on Monday night at 95% for my meet on June 27, so this workout was short and sweet. I skipped the RDL because I didn't want to tax my back and hams w/o only a short break before skills eval. Looking forward to Monday!
Just took a walk through your training log. Holy buckets. Your pulls and squats are looking awesome.
I read about you being frustrated about your bench, but when do all three lifts ever go up at the same time (well, except maybe when we were 19 heh heh).
Anyway, I know it's old news but love the Cher shirt.
However, it appears to be bigger than an XM.
What's the deal? How you gonna show off the guns in that thing?
365 got a bit out of the groove, but powered it no problem 385 got it off my chest and struggled and missed
However, I doubt at this point I would have gone 365 then 385. More than likely I would go 355ish 370ish 380something. I think 400 will have to wait a bit. Also, I did have PT on Saturday which was not at all pleasant. 1 solid hour of kneeding on my right forearm and shoulder. It hurt like, well it hurt bad. However, I know I'm not injured, it's mostly tightness and tissue knotting. Amy thinks we can get it worked out by the meet. Also, I have not been taking ibuprofen, I'm saving that for the week before the meet. So, I'm not worried, just a bit disappointed.
Deads Warmups 135x8 250x4 340x2 430x1 525x1
580 Easy 640 Shoulder and forearm hurting, but got it w/o too much struggle. Happy w/ it.
So... 520 365 640 So, basically this workout was my openers and 2nds and I was 5/6. Will this translate in an actual meet, where nerves play a bigger part???? A miss here and there really could effect the total (however a couple made 3rds would help too) Overall I was pleased and right where I wanted to be. I have 19 days to go.
Actually, someday I might get around to that, but honestly, I've never posted a video because I don't know how. I have a camera, but we just record family tapes and put them in the safe, I've never downloaded them to a computer. I'll put "learning that" on my "to do" list and get those going.
Wed 6-10-09 8:00-9:00 w/ Dad and Judy 181lbs The Pound
Tonight was a night when I was most grateful to have great training partners. After squatting Saturday, and the skills eval on Monday, I just wasn't feeling it. However, nothing was said, but we just kept at it set after set. It was like, "well if they are doing it, I should be too, since they are a bit more senior than me. So, thank you Dad and Judy.
Box Squats Warmups Cyclic 350x5 @7+ 360x5 @7 (feeling better) 380x5 @7+/8 400x5 @8 20NL All felt good and strong
Front Squats 135x6 205x6 225x8 20NL (I decided to do an 8, just so I wouldn't have to do another set:)
Nice work on the skills eval, Tony. I think youll do fine at the contest. We have just a little more fine-tuning time to go, then well taper into the meet so youre well rested and feeling like a human car-jack.
Felt tight this morning, but kept stretching out between sets and ended up w/ a preety good workout. Sadly, the Leprechaun's ended our season, but we went out w/ a bang...those poor Gecko's. Great work girls!!
