I did some equipped squats today and had a lot of problems with my liftoffs. I have walked out 800 comfortably, but heavy with a belt before just to train heavy walkouts. It sits on my rear delts like a shelf and doesnt give me any issues. When I put gear on the suit straps cover my rear delts and give the bar nothing to sit on. This causes my wrists get put under a lot of pressure to try to hold the bar in place. I applied a heavy dose of chalk but it still didnt help. I tried moving the straps towards my neck a little more to expose my proper lowbar position, but the straps have the muscle completely flattened. Wondering if anyone else has this issue (if is it is common and you just have to go with it) or if I am doing something wrong. As if squatting heavy weights to depth wasn't hard enough..... now this...

I used to have to walk out all my multiply squats until a few months ago (finally got a mono!), and I had to "mid-bar" it (between normal shelf, where I prefer it, and high-bar position). The exact positioning was almost directly over the shoulder joint; this was the only way the bar would stay in place during the walkout.
Only other suggestion... get a mono, makes life much easier
Hey Jordan Reading your training log, I am totally in the same boat as you. I have a lot of difficulty trying to get down there in a suit.
Here are some things that might help
- when your suit breaks in, the straps will get a little looser and it will be easier to hold the bar on your back IMO
- also, if you have someone to help you, they can pull the straps up a bit while they are on your shoulders, and you can try to shrug\pin your shoulders back. When the person lets go of the straps they might even hold your shoulders in the right spot to have a better shelf.
Mike, I bought it used, but I believe it is Titan Ngx+. Straps dont seem to be overly wide on it.
Tron, that is a really good idea about stretching the straps, then setting the shoulders. When I get a chance to get someone to help me, I will try that. Like Mike I train solo for all of my geared lifts though so for the most part I need to find something that works me to do myself.

I hear ya. I train alone myself, so if my suit happens to be tighter in the straps, I try to set my shoulders back in the straps by rotating my arms up.
Tron, I tried to set my shoulders as good as I could. I really tried to bunch the meat into position like what Malichev (sp?) does. My wrists are really sore today from yesterdays session. I think half of the problem is that I am 250 pounds with 7" wrists. I have tiny, tiny little joints. Anyways, if anyone has any more solutions then I would love to hear them. Mike, you wear a similar suit. Do you find any issues holding 900+? You look very comfortable.

I've got the Titan NGX Super+ or whatever the hell its called. Never had that problem and I have a pretty low-bar position. I also push my elbows back, not forward, which helps a lot.
Rather than try to explain what is going on, I will take what Mike asked and take a vid. That way you can all witness first hand the worlds WORST geared squatter in action.
i had similar problem, like i couldnt feel where the bar was on my back too....i wore a real tight tshirt and chalked her up along with the straps and feel that the bar digs in easier/better right into the skin (between the straps) and holds on much better....
